Have you read the wording for Proposition 12 on the September ballot here in Texas. It reads,
"A constitutional amendment concerning civil lawsuits against doctors and health care providers, and other actions authorizing the legislature to determine limitations on non-economic damages."
This amendment is being promoted as a way to limit damages health insurance companies must pay, but the wording allows the legislature to do more than that.
What does "other actions" mean? It means this amendment can also be used to limit what judges and juries can do to make wrongdoers responsible for their actions. This means drunk drivers, makers of unsafe products, or makers of dangerous drugs can get a break when they are sued also.
Vote No for Proposition 12.
